Power & Energy Experience

Renewable Energy Projects

Significant experience in the Energy and Renewable Energy Markets for both Public and Private entities. Held executive positions including leadership of major programs which have included the following renewable energy related responsibilities:


  • Distributed Generation CHP Renewable Energy Technology licensing and pilot demonstration for the Sturman Digital engine in cooperation with Sturman Industries, UCLA, Southern California Gas and Rochester Institute of Technology.
  • Solar Combined Heat & Power (CHP) Technology development and pilot demonstration in concert with Rochester Institute of Technology and NYSERDA
  • Overall Energy Program and Solar array lease/purchase management across 9 campuses as part of the $10B LACCD Bond program serving more than 200,000 students/myriad facilities in the greater LA Basin.
  • Development, design, construction and integration of solar panels on the IIT campus as part of continued development and operation of the state-of-the-art campus Microgrid.
  • Performance Management of large scale Energy Audits for the states of Wisconsin, Louisiana, and the City of Chicago as part of continued public entity efforts to minimize operating costs and promote long term energy solutions and improved sustainability
  • Design and Construction Management of a 100 Turbine Wind Farm in Eastern Canada for Suez Energy
  • Design and construction management of carport, rooftop and ground-mount solar arrays for Department of the Navy, New Facilities Engineering Command.


Power/Energy Related Large-Scale Programs 

Management and fiscal responsibility for a number of large programs where both power and water facilities/systems development, design, construction and short and long-term operations/maintenance where required including the following;


Executive Program Director- Los Angeles Community College District Bond Program ($10B) -Responsible while employed by AECOM for the continued development, renovation, maintenance and operations of 9 campuses across the LA Metro Area collectively attended by more than 200,000 students. The work included completion of an average of more than 100 projects annually including renovation/upgrade and/or new construction of educational facilities, administration/support and athletic facilities as well as critical energy, transportation and water infrastructure. The energy projects involved major upgrades to existing substations, complex relocation of existing utilities and installation of new utilities, as well as providing additional power generation in the form of natural gas fired turbines, diesel fired CHP as part of backup systems and additional renewable energy assets (Solar)


Executive Program Director – Ministry of Education/Tatweer Building Company (TBC) Schools Program Kingdom of Saudi Arabia (KSA) ($20B) – Executive Program Director for the TBC KSA schools program based in Riyadh Saudi Arabia while employed by AECOM with the 10-year agenda to complete more than 5000 projects to completely overhaul the education platform across the entire Kingdom. The program involved the development, design, construction and O&M of both renovated and new school facilities including individual school buildings as well as large scale campuses in both large metro and remote rural settings. The projects required significant upgrades and/or construction of new power and water infrastructure, including substations, transmission, utility duct banks and water storage/ conveyance systems; as well as oil fired CHP and larger scale turbines to provide adequate new power in many of the locations.


Executive Program Director, Ministry of Housing (MOH), KSA ($20B) – Executive Program Director while employed by Parsons with the 5-year agenda to provide the first 75,000 homes of an intended total of 500,000 homes across the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. The work required the development, design. and Construction at 15 locations across the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia of new single family, multi-family and large scale institutional support facilities (hospital, fire, police administration, etc.). The project also required the development, design and construction of all energy and water infrastructure, including transmission, distribution and generation of adequate oil-fired power.

  

In addition to more recent experience in large programs, was a former executive with the Shaw Group and Parsons Construction Group and had operational responsibility for numerous large-scale energy and water infrastructure projects including:


  • Design and Construction of two new Nuclear Power Generating Stations in the Southeastern US including Plant SCANA in South Carolina and Plant Vogtle in Georgia.
  • Outage and power uprate projects for AES/Hawaii Power in Hawaii, AEP in Michigan, and Dominion Energy in Virginia
  • Design and construction of multiple Ethanol fueled Power facilities in the Western United States for Pacific Ethanol
  • Design and construction of Multiple, complex Wastewater and Domestic Water Treatment facilities across the US including City of Honolulu WWT, Newtown Creek, Hunts Point & Croton water Treatment facilities in NY City; City of Elgin Water Treatment facility outside Chicago, Illinois; and Bakersfield WWT expansion in CA.
  • Large scale DOD and DOE infrastructure, institutional and support facilities Design/Build Programs including Nationwide Housing programs for US Army, Navy and Air Force, Critical infrastructure Upgrade and Hardening of 10 Strategic Air Bases across the US, and Nuclear Power Technology development and D&D at various DOE facilities including Hanford Washington, Argonne National Laboratory outside Chicago and the Savannah River site near Aiken, South Carolina.
